Congratulations to The Paul Hogarth Company for scooping this year’s Landscape Institute Excellence in Heritage and Culture Award with their work on Hillsborough Castle.
The Landscape Institute said: The In 2014 Historic Royal Palaces took over the operation of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens and embarked on a major restoration project. The aim of the project was to open what was once described as a ‘locked away hidden gem’. Through ambitious planning, £20 million of investment, two years of design and two further years of sensitive construction, the doors were flung open to all in April 2019; reintroducing a rich and vibrant historic landscape, giving the Castle and Gardens a future as valuable as its past.
A unanimous winner which all judges described as a ‘beautiful and transformational scheme for a site of very significant heritage value’.
