ICC Belfast will welcome leading practitioners and policymakers this week for the UK & Ireland Passivhaus Conference, taking place 7-8 October.
The two-day event will explore the theme of ‘Passivhaus in a changing climate’, bringing together experts to address the role of low-energy building standards in an era of environmental change. This year’s conference tackles the twin challenges of climate and cost-of-living head-on, showcasing Passivhaus as a practical, proven solution ready to scale.
The conference will showcase two projects where esc construction consultants has played a pivotal role in delivering Passivhaus excellence:
SWC Erne Campus – Where esc provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying services for this internationally recognised facility. The project achieved ‘RICS UK Project of the Year’ and won the People’s Choice Award at the 2023 UK Passivhaus Awards. This pioneering education facility now serves as a world-leading exemplar acting as a carbon cutting beacon to its students and the wider community.
CAFRE Greenmount Campus – esc is currently providing Project Management and Quantity Surveying services on this ambitious development, being built to the Passivhaus Premium standard – the highest tier of energy efficiency certification. This ongoing project demonstrates our continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable building delivery.
These projects underscore esc’s expertise in navigating the complex technical, financial, and coordination challenges inherent in delivering Passivhaus standards. From cost planning through to practical completion, our team ensures these world-class sustainable buildings are delivered on time, on budget, and to exceptional quality standards.
As climate pressures intensify, events like this demonstrate that Passivhaus isn’t just about energy efficiency – it’s about building resilience, reducing carbon, and creating healthier environments for future generations.
The conference marks a milestone as the first to be jointly coordinated by the Passive House Association of Ireland and the UK Passivhaus Trust.
