Education Minister Michelle McIlveen has cut the first sod on a major capital project to provide a new school building for Roe Valley Integrated Primary School (IPS) in Limavady. This marks the commencement of construction on the new school accommodation which will deliver new state of the art facilities helping to create a positive learning environment for young people.

Speaking at the new Roe Valley IPS site, Minister McIlveen said:
“This is an exciting day for the whole school community as work gets underway on their brand new school building. The significance of this £6.3million investment will be reflected in the many benefits it will deliver for pupils, families and staff.
Principal Julie McDonagh said:
“This is a tremendously exciting step forward for our fabulous children, the Roe Valley IPS team as well as our wider community. We have been providing first class educational opportunites at Roe Valley IPS for almost 20 years and look forward to the next chapter, developing our child-centred, inclusive primary school so that it is best in class.”
Lowry Building & Civil Engineering Ltd were appointed to carry out the construction works which are due to complete in late summer 2023.
The Roe Valley IPS scheme is being funded by the Department of Education under the ‘A Fresh Start’ capital programme.
