Education Minister Paul Givan has officially cut the first sod on a major capital construction project at Glenwood Primary School, marking the beginning of a significant £22 million investment in the school’s future.
The development will include the major refurbishment of the existing Grade B1 listed school building, alongside the construction of a new state-of-the-art extension featuring ten classrooms, a library and modern dining facilities.
As part of the Hamilton Architects led design team, esc construction consultants are proud to be providing Project Management and Quantity Surveying services on the landmark scheme, supporting the successful delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion and working with main contractor Bell Contracts Limited.
Drawing on our extensive experience in the conservation and refurbishment of listed and historic buildings, the esc team will help to ensure the careful restoration of the school’s historic fabric while integrating modern educational facilities designed to meet the needs of future generations.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, Education Minister Paul Givan said:
“Today represents a key milestone for Glenwood Primary School. When complete, this new extension and refurbished historic building will provide state-of-the-art facilities that will not only help pupils grow, but thrive, ensuring they are best placed to reach their full potential.
There has been considerable work to get to this stage. I commend the school and stakeholders for their dedication, commitment and perseverance in bringing the project from initial design, through planning and into construction. It is a journey that displays the very best of our school communities.
I wish the pupils, staff, governors and parents of Glenwood Primary School every success as this exciting new chapter unfolds and the vision for their school buildings become a reality.”
