Bessbrook Library Refurbishment & Modernisation, Co Armagh
Extensive renovation and modernisation of Bessbrook Library, built in the 1990s, to enhance both the building’s energy performance and the functionality of the space for library users and staff.
The refurbishment aimed to bring the building up to the EnerPHit standard – a Passivhaus certification specifically designed for retrofitting existing buildings, and significantly improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
Energy Efficiency Upgrades include a new energy-efficient heating system, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system, energy-efficient LED lighting for general and emergency use, external wall cladding and insulation, upgraded thermal insulation for the roof and installation of triple-glazed windows and doors.
Interior Improvements include the replacement of ceilings and floor coverings, internal and external redecoration, upgrade of staff kitchen and public WC, new automated entrance doors plus a new reception desk and library furniture.
Safety and Security enhancements include an upgraded intruder alarm system and improved fire alarm system.
The library now provides a modern and more comfortable environment for the community.
