Sustainability is no longer an optional consideration – it is a fundamental part of successful project delivery.
At esc construction consultants, we believe the most sustainable projects are those where environmental, social and economic objectives are embedded from the earliest stages of planning and design.
Our approach to Project Management and Cost Management helps clients balance sustainability ambitions with programme, budget and operational requirements. By considering whole-life value, procurement strategies and long-term performance from the outset, projects are better positioned to deliver lasting benefits for both users and communities.
This approach is reflected across our project portfolio. The award-winning South West College Erne Campus, where esc provided Project Management and Cost Management services, achieved both Passivhaus Premium and BREEAM Outstanding certification and was recognised as the UK’s Project of the Year. The pioneering campus generates more energy than it consumes and demonstrates how ambitious sustainability targets can be achieved while maintaining strong cost and programme control.
More recently, esc has continued to support sustainable developments across multiple sectors including CAFRE Greenmount Campus Redevelopment designed to Passivhaus Premium and BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ accreditations, and a new state-of-the-art Leisure Centre in Strabane, an ambitious project which is pursuing Passivhaus accreditation, embedding towards net-zero principles to minimise carbon impact in line with the Client’s sustainability goals.
As regulations evolve and the construction industry moves towards net-zero carbon, sustainable project management is becoming a core requirement for successful project delivery. At esc, we work with clients and design teams to ensure sustainability is not simply a compliance exercise, but a driver of long-term value, resilience and performance.
The greatest opportunity to influence sustainability occurs at project inception. Early decisions on design, procurement, materials and operational performance have the greatest impact on a project’s environmental footprint, lifecycle costs and long-term success.
